At least 85 vehicles will be auctioned Sunday at Arrowhead Ranch’s39th
AnnualRound-Up and Auction, the nonprofit’s biggest fundraiser.

“It’s a
humongous fundraiser for us. It kind of keeps us going for the rest of the
year,” said Brandon Terronez, Arrowhead development director.

The event
is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Arrowhead Ranch,12200 104th St., Coal Valley.
Registration for the vehicle auction begins at8:30 a.m., and the vehicle auction
starts at11 a.m.

Mr.Terronez said85 to 90 vehicles will be auctioned. In
addition to cars, vans and trucks, the auction includes boats, tractors and a
large recreational vehicle, which Mr.Terronez said is in “immaculate
condition.”

Arrowhead Ranch, founded in1945, is a treatment facility for
at-risk youth with a mission of motivating them “tobecome productive and
responsible young men and women by providing the highest quality counseling,
education, social services to youth and their families.”

While the annual
fundraiser is best known for the auction, there are many other elements,
including games and a bounce house for kids, a craft fair, food vendors, bingo,
a small item auction at 10 a.m., and a classic car display by the Quad City
Cruisers.

The small-item auction includes furniture, exercise equipment,
basketball hoops and other things.

New to the fundraiser this year are a
performance by Comedy Sportz and a disc golf tournament. Mr.Terronez said
Arrowhead has its own disc golf course on the grounds, and people can register
for the tournament that day.

“We’re hoping this is the first of many
tournaments,” he said.

Preparing for theRound-Up and Auction is a
year-round process, and about 60 volunteers work the day of the event, in
addition to the staff and residents who are working, Mr. Terronez said.”I think
my favorite part is seeing all the people come out here and support the good
cause.”

The number of people who attend is weather-dependent, he said,
adding that if it’s a beautiful day, Arrowhead can expect 1,000 or more
attendees.
